Works great in West Africa By Jesse I bought this for $15 off a fellow expat who was leaving the country, and boy am I sure glad I did! During the rainy season it consistently catches at least 20 mosquitos per day, and over the period of several weeks has greatly diminished the mosquito population in our yard. 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Comparison of Flowtron to SkeeterVac and Magnet Liberty By bptexas First off, I live in the woods of NH, and I've read the success of these machines will vary depending on where you live. I owned the Flowtron MT-275 for 3 yrs. It did work and caught maybe 200 mosquitoes a month. Being my first ever trap I thought this was good. The unit finally stopped working after 3 yrs. I replaced the fan according to their support with no success. Flowtron support was clearly guessing at the problem and I decided to throw this unit out before spending any additional money trying to fix it. What a great move this was!! Advice to all....throw your Flowtron out if you own one regardless if it is working or not! I recently bought a Mosquito Magnet MM3000 Liberty and a Blue Rhino SV3100 SkeeterVac. One was put on each side of my 3 acres. Within 2 wk both of these units caught more mosquitoes than the Flowtron did in 3 yrs!! After 3 months now, the Magnet Liberty is by far superior at catching mosquitoes, but that is all it catches, and it does it well! I empty a full bag every wk, which must be 1000's. The SkeeterVac catches about 1/3 the mosquitos of the Magnet, however the TacTrap (sticky paper on the outside of unit) is excellent at catching other biting bugs, like the large black and green flies I have up here. After every 2 wks the TacTrap looks like a fully loaded pizza of bugs...very cool! The other nice thing about the SkeeterVac is that its cordless. However, the TacTrap and Fine Tune Biting (Octanol) will add to the monthly operational cost vs the Magnet. So far, following the advice of previous posters, I have not had any clogging problems. I replace the propane before it runs out so the units are not running on empty...which seems to be the main problem with these units. Bottom line, I like having both the Magnet and SkeeterVac units, and will never by a Flowtron again! 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Yep, turn away, before it is too late! By Who's review is this? I took a leap of faith and bought one of these units a while back through Costco. Man I want to like this unit, but it is impossible. As expected, the fan went out in about a year. This is pretty consistent, and I figured, well, I'll see if I like it, and if I do, I'll just replace the fan when it fails. Not entirely a bad deal, since the fan is $44.95 or so, and this is one of the few Mosquito traps that combine LPG, octenol, and some electronic sounds/lights.But the company can't get out of its own way. They're a bit hard to reach to begin with, but the only way to get a replacement fan for this unit is to mail them a check! The single customer service representative who seems to reply to email and answer the phone (Shelly), isn't setup for any type of payment, even though they run an online store for accessories. And on the accessories website, they don't sell parts, just accessories. With every single review containing stories of fans failing after a year, how much trouble would it be to carry the fan in the online store? And keep in mind this is YEARS after reviewers started reporting fan failures. What an idiotic company.I really wanted to keep this sucker, but alas, back to Costco it goes. Costco's stopped carrying these, so no wonder why. For folks who haven't bought from Costco, Flowtron surely must have extracted a lot of money and grief with this stuff. Here's hoping justice is served by their departure from the marketplace.Seeing another review in this thread, I guess I'll try a liberty next. See all 4

Shaw My story is this: Got some mice in the house at the start of the winter. Little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. Laid out traps and caught four of them but still had: little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. So I brought two of these units. At first I put them both in the basement where I had actually seen the little critters (I have a pretty big house) and I didn't see any evidence of them in the basement after two days or so but upstairs it was still: little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. So I moved the "pest repellers" upstairs and put all my food items in plastic containers. I saw some evidence of a mouse in the trash the first morning but since then, nothing. I don't know if it was me storing the food better, the pest repellers or both but I have seen nothing. I have been moving these things around the house every other day or so and they seem to work for me. I would give the unit five stars but they do have one draw back, they do make noise. If you expect these things to be quiet your in trouble, they chirp. It's not too loud and doesn't bother our dog or us but it does make noise. For me the chirping is a small price to pay to get rid of the mice. 19 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Makes annoying chirping noise By Mark The repeller works fine at repelling, but when on the "rodent" setting it makes an audible chirping noise that's annoying so it can be used only in remote locations where people don't normally go.The reason we bought this model was because it can run on batteries and we wanted it for an outer shed, but the manual says that it'll only run two or three days on battery power, making it absolutely worthless for this use. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Spider be Gone By Robert W. Stowe Purchased and installed (plugged it in) on our outside covered porch which was infested with several species of house spiders (crab, wolf, small web floaters, etc.).I had cleaned up all egg casings that I could find and vacuumed all visible webs the first of September. Since plugging this little devil in two weeks ago, I have not seen any new webs or crawling spiders within an eight foot range of its location against the inside wall. Garden spiders still crawl across the farthest outside screen, but our problem with dozens of webs against the inside wall near the sliding doors has been eliminated. Instructions state that some species will adapt to the ultrasonic range and may take up new residence. So far, that has not happened. I am very pleased with this piece of technology. I would not buy one now if it was on sale for $10. If you buy one of these (and I hope that you do not), you are going to get the model that is in the picture kindly provided by Mr. Bryant. This unit has two bulbs. One of them burned out in my unit after only about a month. So, I bought a replacement (Stinger brand) bulb for about $15 at Wal-Mart. Then the other bulb burned out a few weeks later. So, I bought another bulb (another $15). Then after about three months, BOTH bulbs starting putting out a strange yellow-orange glow and the grid no longer "zapped" bugs. After a short lifetime of about three months, it went into the garbage can. Yeah, I could have messed with the warranty, but it just was not worth it. I'll bet that other people will though, and I'm going to predict that Amazon will quit selling these things because of the high rate of complaints and returns. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I doubt it. I'll never buy another Stinger or Honeywell product. I go on the consumer philosophy of "Sell me a bad product once, shame on you. Sell me a bad product twice, shame on me". You've been warned. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. mosquitos beware By Casey Campbell I dont know why all these web sites are sayin "bug zappers dont kill mosquitos"....my wife kept telling me her parents had one that worked well. I just bought one and in 30-60 minutes I had killed 200 bugs, about 45% asian mosquitos, 45% black(local) mosquitos, and 10% other bugs. After the first hour I'm impressed and don't understand why people say these dont attract them. Next im going to try the octenol and then the lurex to see if it helps, even though it did fine without either. I'm in east texas where we have both types of mosquitos. One word of knowledge, the mosquitos do stop flying when the temperature drops to 60 degrees. GET ONE! 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Stinger vs Flowtron/Winner!, By scottls1 Stinger:Pros- With mosquito lure, killed lotsa bad insects (at first, then wouldn't zap small insects!)- BUT!Cons- Their electric wire grid uses square wires that QUICKLY clog up. Pretty soon it was packed solid & killing nothing!I had to keep blowing it out ( air compressor) every couple ofdays- HASSLE!Flowtron "80!" (took puny 40 back!)-Pros- Killed lots more bugs, because it NEVER clogs up (zaps small insects too!)!The electric rods are straight up/down, so no cross wires to catch falling insects & clog.Dead insects fall out the bottom- Blow clean once a month...I used the Stinger mosquito lure, purchased at Wally World...Cons- The only con is that the outer protective plastic cage HAD bars only about 1/2" apart (same with Stinger)- This kept larger moths... from being able to easily get in to the electric grid.I used a large wire cutter & cut out every 3d bar- on top 2/3ds of cage. Alternating..., so cut bar was in the middle of two solid bars on adajacent side- Still rigid!I put it on an outside timer (for when evenings cool down- Not much insect activity below 55 degrees...). Adjust accordingly.Never hang it near a door, as their is always a 10'+ swarm of insects around it.Try to hang it over head high, in a DRY (electric) area. See all 7 customer reviews...

Brewer most important, it is quiet, i have it on low of the 2 settings, and no more spiders so far. The soft blue light is dim and unobtrusive, would work well as hallway night light too, but i hate light while trying to sleep and since it is on the far side of head-board, i cannot notice it at all. Perfectly quiet! no sound at all, and i have excellent hearing (so if if others said it was noisy, that is nuts-- maybe they got a bad unit?). I have no complaints. No more spiders yet, but it's only been a few days (though it was only designed for mice and flies & mosquito). I have a good feeling it will work, along with the sprays of stuff to repel them. Great on the other 2 fronts. Looks well-made, solid. Little electric usage says it costs pennies per year to leave on. I have no pets , so i do not know how it would affect them. It is plugged in like a foot from my head, on the other side of the headboard, so goodbye spiders. ...excellent price too. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. best of items By major this is a item ,must have...even if you don't have any bugs/pests in your house or apt...The seller is on point...shipping on time...item best to have then.. Satyaprakash This little gadget appears to be keeping away mosquitoes sometimes but not always. I am not sure if the ultrasonic action works continuously or intermittently (when plugged in, the blue light is always on) and mosquitoes fly/bite when the ultra sonic action is in a pause mode. It is too early for me to say if it is really working. OK to have one near the bed. See all 4 customer reviews...
