Lovitt We always get mosquitoes in the house every spring, even though I tape around the edges of our screens, and hang flying pest strips in the garage. So I thought I'd give one of these Dynatrap Indoor Insect Eliminators a try. It does catch flying insects, although moths seem much more interested in this trap than mosquitoes. I ran it indoors for a week and caught exactly one gnat, so I put it out on the front porch and ran it overnight, just to see what got trapped. When I opened it up the next morning, I counted 4 mosquito hawks, 3 little brown moths, 3 little black beetles, numerous gnats, and two mosquitoes. Possibly the mosquito hawks had eaten some of the trapped mosquitoes, so the count might not have been exact. Anyway, these are some of the 'features' I'd like to see improved before I can whole-heartedly recommend this product: --the fan is fairly noisy,and the blue lights are bright enough so that you probably won't want to run this unit in your bedroom --even though I've only been running this product intermittently for a couple of weeks, one of the fluorescent bulbs is already buzzing and flickering like it isn't going to last much longer --if you and this product are shut in a room with a mosquito, the mosquito will choose you over the trap --this product doesn't automatically kill the bugs that are trapped in it Be sure to spray them before you open it up to clean it, unless you plan to swat the captives as they fly away. Quinn We purchased this to try to address moisquitos getting into our cabin and bothering us at night. It picked up quite a few, although they still bothered us as well. But out of the box, the black light didn't work. As the text stated it was a new type, I didn't know how bright it should be. Called the 800 number and left a message. After a couple of days, opened it up and found the bulb wasn't plugged in, so plugged it in and then the light worked as well as the fan. The light and the fan takes some getting used to if you're trying to sleep in the same room with them, which we were. But three months later, I'm still waiting for Flowtron to call me back and address the question I had left with them. So the unit is OK, but the company isn't much on customer service (at least to this customer!). 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not very effective By Tyler Durden I own both the Flowtron BK80D and this "Galaxie" model The reason I bought this unit was to avoid creating more noise (BK80D makes zapping noise). It does succeed in trapping small flying insects, just not enough. I see the "swarm" of insects around it, so the blacklight and octenol must be effective at drawing them in. I suspect the failure is the fan isn't strong enough to suck them in (evidence is little moths able to fly in/out and around it without getting trapped). I am ecstatic with the Flowtron BK80D - its a lean mean killing machine in comparison (piles and piles of insects fall to the ground). This unit barely got a handful after 2 months of continuous operation (and diligent octenol replacement). Sorry Flowtron, but this one is a miss! Bug bombs, sprays, swatting, etc... nothing would get rid of them. I'd kill 10, only to find 5 more hovering over the sink 2 hours later, right where I just sprayed. I got this thing, and within 12-14 hours, about 8 hours of the initial time being daylight and lit, I caught about 20 gnats already. The sticky pad is REALLY sticky and as soon as they touch it they are doomed to a slow death. This thing has knocked a huge dent into the gnats population and I am happy to have it. The only down size is this thing is big... it's at least 12 inches tall and about 3-4 inches wide, it puts off a bright light but works double as a nightlight so thats okay. It's a bit expensive but I'd pay twice for what this thing has done already. Also the fact it only comes with 1 sticky pad and additional pack of 10 of them are pretty expensive But if you only have to use one a month or until you get your infestation under control, that might not be a big deal. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good Fly Trap By maddog24 After having flies taking up residency in my home, I tried the sticky hanging traps and the sticky boards, but they would only work if the flies landed on them. There was no appeal for the fly to land there other than random luck (or bad luck for the fly). I bought this unit, and it has worked very well on flies as well as the smaller fruit flies. Bad Idea By Kerrie Lu I bought this product thinking that solar power would be enough to kill the bugs and help me save on the electric bill, BIG mistake. The box comes w/ two very cute lights but only one of them worked. AND no matter how long I left them out to charge there was never enough power for them to stay lit at night or to kill the bugs around my home. I live out in Central California where we have mosquitos and all kinds of flying insects at night and day time is sunlight from 6:30 am to 9 pm. My brother's electric bug light was better than this. Worse item I have ever purchased from Amazon. By E. Lane When I first received the solar lights, I opened the box and the batteries fell out of the lights. The batteries were corroded on the ends and they would not light the lights So I bought some Nmh batteries and put them in the lights. The lights are suppose the charge the batteries, but after 5 days the batteries were dead. I put the batteries in a charger and then back in the lights and they lasted for another 5 days. The reason I bought these light is so I would not have to take care of re-charging the batteries every 5 days. They do kill bugs when the lights are lit. The lights are suppose to be stainless steel, but they rusted the first day they were outside. The switches on the lights are very difficult to use. I bought five of these devices hoping that I could give some away and make my friends happy, if they worked right. They have absolutely no mosquito repelling power. Also, they are NOT silent when switched to position 1 but instead make an extremely high-pitched and very annoying sound. I kept two of these, turned on at about 6ft apart. Both were on position 1 (which the incredibly poorly written instructions describe as the sound of a bat) and after getting bitten 3 times I turned them on to position 2 (described as dragonfly sound here on Amazon, and male mosquito sound on the packaging) it actually seemed to attract more mosquitoes, so I got bitten 4 more times and my friend got 2 bites. I did this experiment for three nights in a row, trying just one device for fear that the two might be interfering with each others' sound and being ineffective..just got more bites. I practically saw the mosquitoes flying right around the device. Look, it's a magnificent piece of junk, that's what it is. It's rare for me to write a good review, and even more rare to write a bad one, but in this case I couldn't wait to give this garbage the one star. I miss the patio before people will come on, or before we eat on the terrace in the evening. It works well. You must wait while the coil is heated by lighting both models and then begins to fog. Push the mist away from you in a sweeping motion, and it creates a "bug barrier." Patio life is virtually bug free! Regular use Fogg and you will break the life cycle of insects as you try to stay away. It would be nice if the smell was more like lemon or lemon. It would be attractive to spray. Moreover, the pleasant scent lingering fog as it regulates lemon. Additionally, lemon is a natural insect repellent so, would you the best of both worlds with both chemical and natural compound used simultaneously. I recommend these products I like the Burgess model is better than Black Flag, but the flag Blag has electric start, which is more fun than using a lighter to light the Burgess. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Gets the error by RS Service Co have used this very intense in some areas for mosquitoes and it does a good job, but not with the liquid spray that comes with it. I had to use slower than I thought, for it takes its time to heat up the coils as you spray. Malathion Buy commercial, mixed 50/50 with diesel in the beginning, but was not satisfactory. Then use a 50/50 mix of kerosene and have a right. Wear protective BREATHING! The mixture that we used did a great job of eliminating flying insects in the area, yet is strong for the first time with only a particle mask, I got a little sick to my stomach. I had two, but dropped one on the floor and the blade broke, so I'm ordering another. I had reviewed this a while back, but it is on an Amazon page for another seller, which no longer sells it, so it doesn't appear when you search. Anyway, perhaps the mosquitos are dumber here in DC than eleswhere, but eventually they end up in or around the trap, dead Most of the mosquitos actually don't die in the trap's net basket, but are battered by the fan blade and end up laying in front of or behind the traps (they get knocked out through vents in the back, I think). So if at first you don't not think it's working, put the trap on white sheet of paper and you'll find them. We keep them running at night, when the mosquitos are actively looking for us, and perhaps that's when the traps work best -- in the dark with those enticing blue led lights. This product is also sold under different entries on Amazon and the noted reviews there suggest the same thing. The bulb will begin to darken, flicker, etc. and cannot be easily replaced. Lodato I have had this zapper 4 a month now. My first impressions were good as far as it looked in my home as I use it for indoors. Then I realized it didn't work until it was fully charged and you couldn't keep it plugged in to use it so every 10 hr's or so you needed to disconnect it to recharge. Inconvenient. It worked quite well zapping the bugs until the last week. It just doesn't have enough power to zap the bugs anymore. So I paid over $3000 4 two and a half weeks of use. Vacuum is not powerful enough to suck most of the bugs by EA Lovitt There may be other bug vacuums powerful than the "Bug Wand. I can not recommend this product because it does not work as advertised. We tried it out on the Asian beetles (those who look like ladybugs, but bite humans), spiders, a housefly, and a few mosquitoes (no-see-ums). It worked for the mosquitoes, but we had to beat the rest of the bugs in the tube, as they hung on the wall, ceiling, or web, and refused to be sucked in. I do not think I was going after a bee or wasp with the Bug Wand, because I would not want them to lose their temper, trying to save them in a 1.5 inch diameter, two meters long tube. Haven't tried it with flies, doesn't seem likely to work. (West Nile virus found in this state). I have two cats indoors and keep the window cracked in the back of the APT 2000 ft2 near their room and laundry area. Although there is a screen installed in the window that I keep open and appears to fit the amount of bugs collected by this model is scary! Some are large and others are "not seeums" I like this model because it was made to attach to a wall (not hanging at all), we are able to fly high with its own a flat surface (office, etc. utility shelves. ..) The bottom of this unit is the area of ​​collection and the need to purchase additional mats sticky that corresponds to the bottom of the unit. The suction power is great and the insects are released unharmed structural (can not speak to the emotional trauma of being sucked into a tube). I got the bees, spiders, etc. and let them go unharmed. Attention bug gets shock of your life-(will be the last) by Gavin J. This is a good product that has a clever two-step safety switch and also has a flashlight in the bottom of the handle. Since it uses electricity to power up are far more powerful batteries that use the Zapper.
